The following technical requirements will enable the Royal Winnipeg Ballet to present a first class performance in your theatre, with full company and our touring orchestra, (if applicable) for a single or extended number of performances.

10m (33’) deep, 12m (40’) wide, is preferable but not essential, with sufficient and unobstructed wing space. The stage floor must not rest directly upon concrete or marble. The RWB provides its own vinyl dance floor.

(if applicable): The touring orchestra requires sufficient space for fourteen musicians with proper chairs, music stands and lights, as well as a piano (grand, where possible). Under the baton of the RWB’s own award-winning Music Director and Conductor, Earl Stafford, the orchestra provides a special component for the creation of outstanding performances. Please inquire about the availability of orchestra when booking the RWB.

A minimum of two clean, well lit and heated rooms with adjoining private toilet facilities and showers for approximately fourteen women and fourteen men. The orchestra requires a separate room for warm up and personal effects.

The RWB travels with its own system to enhance the orchestra and for repertoire that utilizes taped music. The mixing board and operator are best situated in the back of the theatre, 2.44m x 2.44m (8’ x 8’).

220 volts, 3-phase, four wire minimum, 250 amps per leg.

In order to provide the best possible lighting in the most economical set up time, the RWB travels with its own complete lighting systems, including lamps on pre-hung pipes and booms, dimmer racks and memory board, requiring only the theatre’s front of house lights.

The standard local crew requirement is approximately eighteen people for the take in, set up and take out, with thirteen people for the performance. The RWB travels with its own seven-person IATSE road crew, including one wardrobe staff on a “yellow card” basis. Theatres not serviced by IATSE may provide the same number of
properly trained crew.

The stage must be exclusively available to the RWB for 12 hours prior to curtain. Depending upon the theatre facility and repertoire, the actual take in and set up time will vary from four to eight hours. Dancers’ class and rehearsal can commence up to five hours prior to curtain.
