DARREN ANDERSON

Darren Anderson was born in Edmonton. After receiving scholarships to further his training, he attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division and the American Ballet Theatre. While at the RWB School, Anderson received the prestigious Arnold Spohr Award and also performed with the Company in some of its full-length ballets.

In 1999 Anderson joined the Cincinnati Ballet where he had the opportunity to be a soloist in the company's premiere of Val Caniparoli’s Nutcracker and Fingerprints by Stanton Welch.

In the summer of 2002, Anderson returned to the RWB and was promoted to second soloist in 2006. Since joining the Company, Anderson has been featured in many roles including, ‘Dr. Van Helsing’ in Dracula and 'Puss in Boots' in The Sleeping Beauty and ‘Smee’ in Jorden Morris’ Peter Pan. Anderson also premiered the role of the ‘Dog’ in Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story.

Other RWB dance credits include Second Song pas de deux in Four Last Songs, ‘Drosselmeier,’ ‘Arabian’ and ‘Spanish’ in Nutcracker, Balanchine's Allegro Brillante, a soloist in Carmina Burana, Le Jazz Hot and a soloist part in Kylián's Symphony in D.

As a guest artist, some of his favourite roles are ‘Prince Charming’ in The Sleeping Beauty, Valse Fantasie, Don Quixote Pas de Deux and the Balcony Pas de Deux from Romeo & Juliet.
