Position: Residence Counsellor
Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School is accepting resumes for part-time Residence Counsellors. The majority of shifts would be during evenings and weekends although there are opportunities for occasional weekday shifts.
The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School is a nationally and internationally recognized institution dedicated to the training of professional dancers and dance teachers. Attracting students from across Canada and around the world, the RWBS has an on-site residence which houses dancers aged 10 – 20 years to a capacity of 70 students during the school year. The RWBS also runs intensive summer training programs in July and August, overseeing the housing of approximately 130 students during those periods.
Reporting to the Dean of Residence, counsellors will provide a safe, healthy, supportive and nurturing environment enabling each artist of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School the opportunity to pursue his/her goal of becoming a professional dancer. This position is ideal for retired individuals with experience working with young adults, looking for casual work hours or university students in the social sciences/education/recreation/athletic therapy or physiotherapy wishing to gain relevant experience.
Applicants must have a class 4 driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract or be willing to obtain a Class 4 driver's license and a First Aid certificate (Emergency Level) prior to the commencement of their employment. The successful candidate will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and a Child Abuse Record Check. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is also required. Experience working with elite athletes and/or with children and young adolescents would be an asset.
