Amar Dhaliwal comes from Sherwood Park, Alberta, where he began his training as a dancer. He started his professional ballet training at age 18 in the RWB School Professional Division and upon graduation became an apprentice with the Company. He has also danced in the Banff Centre’s training program and professional company.
Dhaliwal became a member of the corps de ballet in 2005/06 season debuting in Nutcracker. Since joining the RWB he has performed in various ballets including Mauricio Wainrot’s Carmina Burana and The Messiah, The Sleeping Beauty, van Dantzig’s Romeo & Juliet as well as Rodeo and Swan Lake.
For the 2006/07 season, Dhaliwal reprised on the role of ‘Jonathan Harker’ in Mark Godden’s Dracula when the Company toured British Columbia and Alberta, a role that he particularly enjoyed performing. On the Winnipeg stage, Dhaliwal played a ‘Pirate’ for the world premiere of Jorden Morris’ Peter Pan, the ‘Garbage Man/Goat’ for Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story and was part of the ‘Flock’ in Mark Godden’s The Magic Flute.
Dhaliwal will kick off the 2006/07 season dancing as a ‘Military Man,’ a ‘Gypsy’ and a ‘Bandit’ in the world premiere of Mauricio Wainrot’s Carmen, The Passion.
