Gael Lambiotte was born in Brussels, Belgium and started his dance education with Madame Laga and Piotr Nadelli. He completed his dance training at the School of the Royal Ballet of Flanders with Jan Nuyts and Tom van Cauwenberghe.
During his dance career, Lambiotte has danced with the Ballet du Grand Theatre de Bordeaux in France, Deutsche Oper Am Rhein in Düsseldorf and was a principal dancer with Boston Ballet, the Dutch National Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal. Lambiotte’s classical repertoire includes ballets such as Swan Lake, Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadère, Romeo & Juliet, Cinderella, Don Quixote, Giselle, La Sylphide, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Onegin. Lambiotte’s credits also include various Balanchine ballets such as La Valse, Agon, Symphony in C, Four Temperaments, Duo Concertante, Diamonds, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux and Brahms-Schoenberg.
Lambiotte has had many opportunities to perform works by Kylián, Graham, Forsythe and Arpine. He had the joy and privilege to work closely with Hans van Manen, Rudi van Dantzig, Mats Ek, Kryzstof Pastor, Toer van Schayk, Christopher Bruce, Mark Morris, David Dawson, Ted Brandsen and Wayne Eagling. He has also received the enriching chance to have ballets created on him.
Lambiotte has been nominated for several prestigious dance awards. His nominations include: the Dutch television cultural award, the Nijinsky Award and three nominations for the ‘Prix Benois de la Dance.’ In 1998 he also received the Alexandra Radius Award for best dancer of the year. Lambiotte has also appeared in many galas and danced with companies throughout Japan, Europe and America. He was a special guest artist with the Royal Ballet of London during their 2002 Australian tour.
Watch for Lambiotte’s first appearance with the RWB in the world premiere of Maurico Wainrot’s Carmen, The Passion. Lambiotte will take to the stage as one of Carmen’s love interests ‘Escamillo.’
