Opening night for the Canadian Premiere of Twyla Tharp’s The Princess & The Goblin is less than a week away! We’re getting very excited here at RWB for the ballet, and it looks like the media is too! We brought several news teams in to catch a sneak peek at rehearsals for The Princess & The Goblin and to chat with our Artistic Director André Lewis, RWB dancers and Twyla Tharp herself.
Dance writer Holly Harris sat down with Twyla for Dance International and for a profile in Uptown Magazine’s Fall Arts Guide.
Host Jenna Khan from Breakfast Television, Tracy Koga from Shaw TV, Andrea Ratuski from CBC Manitoba Scene and Patricia Bitu-Tshikudi from CBC Radio-Canada all came down to watch our RWB dancers in rehearsal and interview Twyla Tharp and André Lewis.
Twyla Tharp opened up about her long friendship with the late Maurice Sendak, author of children’s favourite Where the Wild Things Are, and how he helped inspire The Princess & The Goblin to Winnipeg Free Press’ Dan Lett for a feature story.
And finally, guest artist and acclaimed American Ballet Theatre Principal Dancer Paloma Herrera joined André Lewis on CTV Morning Live this past Wednesday to talk The Princess & The Goblin!
