Dear Parents and Students,

What a wonderful start to the year. The first few weeks of classes have been a wonderful opportunity to get to know our new students and reconnect with returning students. Dance Downtown was a great success and provided performance opportunity to many of our students who participated in the Manitoba Dance Festival last season. I hope that everyone was able to take in some aspect of Culture Days to enjoy the arts and culture scene that Winnipeg has to offer.

I would like to share a special good–bye and thank-you.

After over 5 years with the RWB School, Debra Zoerb, Director of Operations, has accepted an exciting opportunity as Executive Director of Folklorama. Her last day with us will be October 7, 2011.

Debra has been a wonderful asset to the RWB School and will be missed by all of us. Her work will be with us for many years to come. Ms Zoerb’s commitment to ensuring that the RWB School is able to provide the best training possible for your children has been inspiring and has been felt in every area of the School. I hope you will join me in expressing my gratitude and in wishing her all the best for a very successful future!

Over the summer, Claire Marshall taught a movement workshop at the RWB for many children from The Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba (IRCOM).  IRCOM is a non-profit organization that provides transitional housing and delivers social programming to newly arrived refugees and immigrants to Canada.  The class was a hit and the students participating were eager to continue dancing.

Due to the success and positive feedback from the participants, the RWBS and IRCOM have come together to provide a 10 week block of dance classes starting on October 17th .  We look forward to having the students of IRCOM back in our building!
