A summer tradition since the 1970s, Ballet in the Park, Presented by Manitoba Lotteries, attracts thousands of Manitobans and tourists to RWB's free performances in Assiniboine Park. Sitting on a lawn chair or blanket on the grass, this is a relaxed way to take in ballet with your family and friends. For many who have never seen ballet, this is a great introduction to the art form in a picturesque setting.
Ballet in the Park begins tonight and runs
Come enjoy beautiful dance including two performances from the RWB School Professional Division students as well as the Recreational Division. Enjoy the nice weather, in beautiful Assiniboine Park on opening night of Winnipeg's summer dance tradition!
“Ballet in the Park is our way of saying thank you to a community that supports us,” says RWB Artistic Director André Lewis. “We could not ask for a better setting to share our love of dance and to showcase the passion, dedication and talent of our dancers and students.”
Shows begin nightly at 7:30 pm at The Lyric Theatre.

Today, the dancers return to the studio from their summer break! Harrison James begins his second season with the Company, taking on a new role as second soloist after recently being promoted. Here is what he has to say about the promotion and what his experience with the RWB has been like so far.
Since joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet last season I have encountered a whirlwind of highly anticipated experiences. It was my first season as a professional dancer and I had hefty expectations for a job that I have been working towards since my first ballet class 15 years ago at the age of five. Thank goodness I had such a wonderful time dancing in Israel and all across Canada in physically demanding works that allowed me to push my limits both technically and artistically. Read more »
