Twyla Tharp’s The Princess & The Goblin has taken Winnipeg by storm! After an opening night performance on Wednesday that drew a standing ovation from the audience, The Princess & The Goblin received rave reviews from the Winnipeg Free Press, who said the ballet “…took one’s breath away” and called it “…a triumph of faith.”
The positive response continues
to pour in, with CBC arts critic Robert Enright stating Twyla Tharp’s newest work “…brings romance back to the stage”,
while The Globe & Mail stated the RWB “…has a genuine hit on its hands” with The Princess
& The Goblin.
Twyla herself was honoured for her prolific career as a visionary choreographer
today, having been presented with a Key to the City by Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz
in a special ceremony this morning at City Hall. Twyla was joined by RWB School
director Arlene Minkhorst and Professional and Recreational Division students
cast in The Princess & The Goblin.

In a very heartwarming gesture, Twyla decided to give her Key to the City to the RWB School so it can remain here at the RWB building and act as a “trophy” for dance.
A Big Congrats!!
