Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division is pleased to annouce the details of our 2012-2013 International Audition Tour.  

Each year, the RWB School sends a team of artistic faculty and administrative staff to cities across Canada and the United States to audition students for our Ballet Academic, Aspirant and Teacher Training Programs and, in some cities, to conduct master classes. The 2012-2013 International Audition Tour begins on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Regina, Saskatchewan and will see the RWB School in 15 cities before our final stop in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Sunday, January 27, 2013. Every student with a dream to dance or teach professionally is encouraged to attend.

Students who participate in the 2012-2013 International Audition Tour are auditioning to gain acceptance into Summer Session (July 2013), which will serve as the second stage of the two-part audition process. 

HOW CAN I REGISTER?

Students wishing to audition and/or take a master class may pre-register by downloading an audition registration form and submitting it to the RWB School Office in one of the following ways:

Payment must be included with pre-registration.

Please note that while we recommend that students pre-register, it is not necessary.  Anyone may show up the day of the audition and register on the spot.  We will never turn anyone away!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Students should wear a leotard (bodysuit), tights and soft shoes to the audition.  Girls should have their hair in a tight bun; and boys with long hair should have it off their face.

Pointe shoes are not required for any auditions or classes during our tour.

Students are asked to arrive one hour before their audition time with a recent photo of themselves facing front in 2nd position tendu, with arms in 2nd position.  A photo may be taken at the audition for an extra $5, to be paid at that time.  Please do not send payment for photos in the mail.

HOW CAN I AUDITION IF I CAN'T ATTEND AN AUDITION DURING THE TOUR?

Students who are unable to attend the International Audition Tour can audition by mail by submitting a standard DVD prior to May 2013 to:

Please note that we do not accept video footage in other formats.

Audition DVDs should be between 5 and 10 minutes and should demonstrate barre and centre work. Senior students (16 years and older) may include pointe work and/or a variation.

As well, students auditioning by mail should include:

• A recent photo of themselves facing front showing a tendu in 2nd position; arms in 2nd position
• A letter of recommendation from their dance teacher
• A completed Registration Form and payment of the Audition By Mail fee
