A graduate of the RWB School’s Professional Division Teacher Training Program (1989), Ms Davidson holds an Associate Diploma certificate with the Cecchetti Society (1997), and a B.A. in Kinesiology (2011). She has been involved in many aspects of the RWB School throughout her career. Ms. Davidson has been principal of the Recreational Division (1998 to 2005), artistic coordinator for the Recreational Division (1995-1998), and continues to teach in the Teacher Training Programme, Recreational and Professional Divisions of the School today.
In 2009 Ms. Davidson developed the ExplorAbility movement program for adults with disabilities, this program incorporates dance, music and fitness in a program designed for individuals with varying movement abilities. To further her experience working with individuals with disabilities, has also worked as an assistant at The Movement Centre of Manitoba, Inc. working mainly with children who have Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Autism, and adult Stroke patients.
Ms. Davidson has had the honor of adjudicating festivals across western Canada, and has guest taught on behalf of the RWB School in South Africa (2003) and taught workshops for the Manitoba S.A.G conferences (1997-2001). She is particularly proud of the weeklong ‘Literacy through Dance’ project developed with Marion Elementary School involving the students and faculty of the school, as well as the student teachers from the RWB Teacher Training Program. She has also taught and choreographed for the University of Manitoba School of Music Opera students.
In September 2011 Ms. Davidson developed an online dance health and wellness resource for students, teachers, and parents in dance called Access Dance for Life!, now in its second year. Ms. Davidson is pleased to be returning to the University of Winnipeg’s Faculty of Kinesiology for a second term, teaching a course for future classroom and physical educators on Instructing Dance.
Ms. Davidson has been active in the Winnipeg dance and education community serving on the board of several organizations through her career, inclusive of the Manitoba Alliance for Arts Education, Dance Manitoba, and the Cecchetti Society of Canada, Manitoba branch. Through Access Dance for Life! Ms. Davidson is now providing dance programming in the community at the Rady Jewish Community Centre, Trailblazers Life Choices, Inc., and the Rehabilitation Centre for Children, in addition to her own programs in the community.
