Kristina Washchyshyn, LCSC-CICB

Ms Washchyshyn graduate of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School's Teacher Training Program and holds her Licentiate qualifications with the Cecchetti Society of Canada and Cecchetti International of Classical Ballet. She has taught creative movement, character, ballet and Pilates at all levels, including the adult program. Ms Washchyshyn is part of the Artistic team of the Professional Division Teacher Training Program.


Ms Washchyshyn has had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy at Ateneo Danza, training under many Italian and English teachers and choreographers including Stefania Sansavini, Cinzia Maestri, Michele Merola and Susan Brooker. During her stay she received her ISTD Intermediate Modern examination and competed in many Italian competitions.


Much of her time is spent within the Ukrainian community as Director of Sopilka Ukrainian Dance School, instructor with Troyanda Dance Ensemble and previous Ballet Mistress to Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. In the summer of 2009 Ms. Washchyshyn travelled to Kyiv, Ukraine to take the International Summer School of Ukrainian Dance which is in conjunction with the School of Choreography at Virsky National Dance Company and the National University of Arts and Culture in Kyiv, Ukraine. In the summer of 2011 she traveled to Ukraine to the Carpathian mountains to study with state ensembles in the regions of Hutsulshchyna, Pokuttia and Bukovyna as well as observing many children’s schools and performing groups.


Ms Washchyshyn has travelled to Athebasca, AB, Vermilion, AB, Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Saskatoon, SK to adjudicate both ballet and Ukrainian dance competitions. She feels this is a very interesting and exciting way to share the training that she has received from the talented artisitic team at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.
