Ms Gruber trained at The Royal Ballet School in England for nine years. She then danced for six years with The National Ballet in Holland where she enjoyed the company’s large and varied repertoire, including works by Rudi van Dantzig, Hans van Manen, Toer van Schayk, George Balanchine and classical ballet;reworkings by Peter Wright.
Following her years with The National Ballet, Ms Gruber moved to Canada where she joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. She danced with the RWB for 12 years performing many lead roles, including ‘Odette/Odile’ in Swan Lake, the title role in ‘Giselle’, the ‘Cowgirl’ in Rodeo and in one of her favourite works, Stoolgame by Jiří Kylián. Both The National Ballet and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet exposed Ms Gruber to a wide array of experienced teachers and répétiteurs from all over the world that have had an influence on her approach and attitude to teaching. Travelling with the RWB also gave her the opportunity to teach all over North America.
Ms Gruber is now working with the Aspirant Program at the RWB School and coaches the dancers of the Company. She is thrilled to be in a position to share her knowledge and experience with other young dancers.
