Ballet is a classical art form that explores the strength and beauty of dance. Students develop poise, flexibility, strength, discipline and self-confidence in a range of classes from beginner through advanced levels. Dance and movement elements gained through ballet technique carry over to strengthen jazz and tap technique. Ballet training encourages precision, agility and fluidity of movement. The RWB School follows the Cecchetti method of ballet training to provide a solid understanding of classical technique. To be considered for the Cecchetti ballet examinations, students must be attending a minimum of two Ballet classes of the same level per week, with one being the designated second class.

The Importance of Taking More Than One Class:

Students who wish to intensify their training should take more than one class (where available) in their chosen style. Students taking more than one class per week, including one of each of the different dance styles, will enjoy crossover benefits. The posture, strength and body awareness developed in Ballet will enhance the development of Jazz technique. The musicality and body coordination developed in Tap will reinforce the work in Jazz discipline, and the flexibility developed in Jazz will assist in Ballet. All dance study will help Musical Theatre, and Musical Theatre will enable the dancer to find a voice for movement. Lyrical and Hip Hop will further develop the dancer’s style and versatility.
