Tutus in Bloom

We've Reached Our Goal!

Goal: $60,000
Raised: $61,105
Number of Tutus: 28
102% of goal achieved

In order to present Swan Lake for our 75th Anniversary season, the RWB wardrobe department has begun working tirelessly to replace 28 tutus that were designed and built a quarter of a century ago.

RWB Soloist Sophia Lee had her first tutu made for her in Korea when she was 12 years old and says, “it is one of my most special and memorable moments.” While she’s worn many tutus throughout her career, Sophia has not yet worn the Black Swan tutu from Swan Lake on stage. She is hoping to have the chance to wear it one day.

By donating to our Tutus in Bloom campaign, you are helping the RWB keep our tutus beautiful and ensuring our dancers continue to experience these defining moments for many years to come.

• Tutus take 50-60 hours to create
• They are built to last 20-25 years
• Tutus cost between $1,800-$2,000 each
• Each tutu is built layer by layer and is hand-sewn

The RWB gratefully thanks everyone for their support and would like to acknowledge Sara Gray for her Major Gift.
