Step into Peter Quanz’ choreographic laboratory with the next installment of Q DANCE.
Well known for innovative and aesthetically daring choreographic choices, this year’s dynamic Q DANCE program is set to be a virtuosic collection of contemporary ballet.
The mixed repertoire program features two World Premieres – a new creation from Q Dance visionary and international choreographer Peter Quanz and a new work from New York City-based dance innovator, Gabrielle Lamb. This year also marks the return of Quanz’ neoclassical work Untitled. Premiering in 2013 and set a string orchestra score by Peteris Vasks, Untitled is a raw emotional journey into a community where trust is required yet constantly questioned. For one performance only, June 10, renowned guest dancers Amar Ramasar (New York City Ballet, Principal Dancer) and Rebecca King (Finnish National Ballet, Soloist) perform Blushing, a duet to Lana del Rey’s Young and Beautiful.
The four-piece program will animate the Manitoba Theatre Centre after a highly successful sold-out series at the Gas Station Arts Centre in 2013. Premiering to the pre-show audience, Dominique Rey’s video installation, Self as Other II, will be shown as a work in process featuring internationally-acclaimed Métis contemporary dancer, Arlo Reva.
