Donor Spotlight
Welcome to Our Season of Storytelling!
The 78th season at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet opened on September 27 with our whimsical, heroic fantasy Twyla Tharp’s The Princess and the Goblin.
Your support will make fairy tales come true!
Your support provides us the unique opportunity to entertain, engage and educate audiences of all ages.
This season, your support allows us to:
- Present new and exciting projects like Our Story
- Bring the magic of Nutcracker to audiences in Ottawa
- Share traditions like Ballet in the Park with the Winnipeg community
DONOR EVENTS
Closed Working Rehearsal
In September, Patron’s Circle level donors were invited to attend a Closed Working Rehearsal for a behind-the-scenes peek at what goes into a typical rehearsal. Held in Founder’s Studio 116 in our home at 380 Graham, Ballet Master Tara Birtwhistle led the dancers through one of their final rehearsals before opening night. The one hour rehearsal was capped off with a reception where Company dancers and donors mingled over wine, charcuterie and desserts prepared by chef Wayne Aastrom of the RWB School residence.
The Princess, The Goblin, and the Production Crew
In April, Wendy Sawatzky walked away from our Havana Nights Ballet Ball with something priceless- the opportunity to watch The Princess and the Goblin from backstage on headset, a private backstage tour and a Brewer’s Dinner & tour at Peg Beer Co. for her and three friends with our Production Stage Manager, Ingrid Kottke and Assistant Stage Manager, Candace Maxwell. Thank you to Wendy Sawatzky for the amazing pictures from backstage!
This season, our Ballet Ball will be held on April 28th, 2018 and will take us to The Emerald City. Tickets go on sale in the New Year so save the date!
We kicked off our Season of Storytelling in style! A post -show opening night reception featured champagne, desserts and chocolates from former Principal Dancer Amanda Green’s Melt Chocolate Co. Guests mingled with Company members and chatted the upcoming season. Special welcome to Gregg Hamilton who travelled all the way from Mesquite, Nevada to attend new Corps de Ballet dancer Stephan Azulay’s first performance with the RWB Company!
