Cecchetti Ballet Examinations

The RWB School is pleased to be offering ballet exams in the Cecchetti Syllabus once again this year. At the end of January all ballet students attending the second class may receive an invitation to participate in the exam process. These decisions are made by students’ ballet teachers and will be based on progress, attendance, focus and the standard set by the Cecchetti Society of Canada. The exam session will be held in April and a maximum of four mandatory Sunday exam rehearsals will be scheduled during the months prior. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of two ballet classes per week of the same level to be considered for these exams.

Please be aware that ballet examinations are NOT mandatory to advance to the next RWB and Cecchetti level (with the exception of the Intermediate exam). We encourage students to consider taking exams as they are a positive goal for students to work toward. Ballet exams are offered in select ballet classes from Levels 1-8 and within the Intensive Training Program. Upon completion of an examination, students will receive a certificate and detailed report from the Cecchetti Society. For more information please speak to your child’s ballet teacher.

Volunteers Please!

Every school that enters the Manitoba Dance Festival must provide a certain number of volunteers based on their number of entries. Volunteers are given roles at the Festival which may include: handing out certificates onstage, working at the information booth or monitoring the audience. We truly appreciate any time you are able to donate on behalf of the RWB School.

We also require a large number of parent volunteers to support our year-end recitals, Dance Spectrum and Spring Concert, backstage. Volunteers can view their children’s performances at the dress rehearsal from the front and the performance from backstage with no need to purchase a ticket!

The RWB School appreciates any assistance parents are able to provide. If you are interested in helping with either of these events, please visit the RWB School Office to sign up.

Festival Rehearsals

If you have any questions regarding festival rehearsals please contact your child’s choreographer directly. The RWB School Office is able to pass along correspondence from parents/students to teachers however, please be aware that the teacher will not be able to receive your message until their next scheduled day of teaching.

RWB School dancers perform in Ballet Jörgen’s Cinderella

As an exciting addition to Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s rendition of Cinderella, four RWB School Recreational Division students take the stage along with the Toronto-based ballet troupe at the Centennial Concert Hall on February 7. Magdalena McGregor and Kari Valmestad join the production in the role of Fairies and Luke Boguski and Ronan Sheikh as Ballroom Attendants.

Acclaimed by the critics as “destined to live happily ever after” (Paula Citron, The Globe and Mail), Cinderella by Canada’s Ballet Jörgen is an innovative take on the classic fairy tale. Jörgen’s choreography balances the fairy tale classic with contemporary family relationships creating an evening filled with wonder, laughter, and love. Tickets available at the RWB Customer Service Office (380 Graham Avenue), by phone (204.956-2492 | 1.800.667.4792) and online by clicking here.
