DANCE MANITOBA’S SHOWCASE WEEKEND

Dance Manitoba will be hosting workshops at the Pantages Playhouse Theatre for dancers of all levels, aged 8 years or older, over their Showcase Weekend from November 16 – 18. The workshops are designed to provide dancers of all levels a weekend of programming where they will take classes, learn choreography, and perform!

The fee for the weekend workshop is $50.00. Registration forms are available online.

UP TO DATE PAYMENT INFORMATION

Please ensure that your payment and credit card information is up to date with our school office. We ask that you notify us if your credit card number or expiry date change in order to avoid NSF charges or missed payments.

CALL IN WHEN ABSENT

Parents, please remember to contact the School Office in advance if your child is not going to be attending a class so they can inform your child’s teacher that he or she will be absent.

STUDENT INJURIES

Parents are required to inform School Office at school@rwb.org of any injury that restricts or prevents a child’s participation in dance classes. We will then inform the child’s teacher of any adjustments that need to be made for the child throughout the class. If the injury is severe enough that the child is not able to participate in any way, we ask that the child audits the class. If the child is seeking physiotherapy or other treatment it would be helpful if the parent could ask for a detailed description of the injury and any restrictions that are required from the physiotherapist or doctor.

The RWB Physiotherapy department provides students with a clear written description to provide to their teachers of their limitations and how to proceed in their classes between appointments. If parents wish to pick up a copy of this document to use when they seek treatment outside of the RWB, they may do so at the School Office.

If your child is sick, we ask that they stay at home to recover

MOVE DANCE CONVENTION

The MOVE Dance Convention will take place at the RBC Convention Centre on November 24 & 25, 2018. All Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, and Musical Theatre Dance Ensemble students are encouraged to register for this convention. Attendance at the MOVE Dance Convention will satisfy the convention requirement outlined on the Jazz Dance Ensemble Commitment policy.

ADAPT JAZZ AND TAP EXAMINATIONS

The RWB School is pleased to be offering jazz and tap exams in the ADAPT Syllabus for select levels. The decision to invite a student to participate in examinations are made by the student’s teacher and will be based on their progress, attendance, and focus. Invitations will be sent out in the coming weeks. The exams will be in December and in preparation, a maximum of six exam rehearsals will be scheduled during the month prior. These exam rehearsals are mandatory and will take precedence over competition rehearsals.

Upon completion of an examination, the student will receive a certificate and detailed report from the ADAPT organization. Please be aware that these examinations are NOT mandatory to advance to the next RWB School level. For more information please speak to your child’s jazz and/or tap teacher.
