WINNIPEG – (March 21, 2017). Be part of a free open-to-the-public event that attracts more than 7,000 people across the country. Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS)’s 2017 Sharing Dance Day, in partnership with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, takes place at the University of Winnipeg RecPlex on June 8 from 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM. The RWB urges individuals, organizations, and schools of all ages and abilities to register for Sharing Dance Day at by April 21.

Highlights will include presentations from Winnipeg arts organizations and the anticipated performance from hundreds of Winnipeggers performing the Sharing Dance routine.

Participants are welcomed to fundraise. Every dollar raised will stay in Manitoba to support Sharing Dance, which brings fun, accessible, and healthy dance programming to everyone, including those who might not otherwise have access.

Rehearsals for Sharing Dance Day have been underway at the RWB building since January 17 and will continue until June 6. Rehearsals are free and run from 6:30-7:30 PM every Tuesday. Sharing Dance participants have just begun learning the highly anticipated choreography, set to a song created specifically for 2017 Sharing Dance Day. Visit for more information on rehearsals.

NBS’ Sharing Dance Canada 2017 is one of 38 Canada 150 Signature Projects, funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Canada 150 Fund, and with Shaw Communications Inc. as presenting partner. In partnership with NBS, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet would like to acknowledge Sharing Dance Day’s national partners Physical and Health Education Canada and The Globe and Mail.

Sharing Dance is the flagship community initiative of Canada’s National Ballet School (NBS), motivating Canadians of all ages to participate in FREE, healthy, and fun, dance activities.
