Necessary and responsible actions taken immediately due to COVID-19

Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) has made the difficult decision to cancel the final Company performance 80 Years - A Retrospective scheduled for May 6-10, 2020 due to the significant impact COVID-19 has had on the community.

“This is an extremely difficult decision for the organization, but our priority is the health and safety of our dancers, students, and staff along with our patrons and community,” says André Lewis, RWB Artistic Director and CEO. “These actions are terribly difficult in the short term, but are essential to continuing our mission to teach, create and perform the art of dance.”

At times like this we are reminded of the importance of the arts to unite us and reflect our shared humanity. Since our inception 80 years ago, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet has created art that elevates the human spirit.

The RWB is encouraged by the support and generosity of our patrons and will continue to create art in the next days, weeks, months, and years and are deeply grateful to have our community with us every step of the way.

The RWB continues to prepare for a dynamic season of Virtue & Villainy and encourage the community to join us by purchasing a 2020/21 season subscription. Call the RWB at 204-956-2792, email or visit for more information. Please note a change in box office hours on our website as we do our best to support you.

RWB subscribers and ticket holders can donate their tickets back to the organization for a charitable tax receipt, apply a credit to your account or a full refund.
