Seven Students Graduate from Acclaimed RWB School
Winnipeg, MB (June 6, 2014) – The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School celebrated seven talented dancers this week as they received their graduation diplomas from the prestigious RWB School Professional Division Ballet Academic Program on Friday, June 6 at Asper Jewish Community Campus’ Berney Theatre (123 Doncaster Street). In additional to local graduates, several of these students relocated to Winnipeg to attend the seven level program from as far away as Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom.
In addition to proud family, friends and faculty, the RWB School welcomed acclaimed choreographer, personal coach and dance educator, Stephanie Ballard as the commencement speaker.
RWB School Director, Arlene Minkhorst led the convocation ceremony and welcomed The Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages and The Honourable Ron Lemieux, Minister of Manitoba Tourism, Culture, Heritage, Sport and Consumer Protection to offer congratulatory remarks to the graduates on behalf of the Government of Canada and the Province of Manitoba respectively. Dean Rob Bend also addressed the students on behalf of one of RWB School’s academic partners, the University of Winnipeg Collegiate.
Prior to the convocation ceremony, friends, family and RWB School faculty enjoyed a final performance as all seven students presented selections of repertoire including excerpts from Paquita, La Fille Mal Gardéeand Swan Lake.

Founded in 1970 by celebrated teacher and former Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company Principal dancer David Moroni C.M., Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School has an international reputation for providing the highest quality training to its dancers and dance teachers. Under the leadership of Arlene Minkhorst since 2004, the RWB School has continued to develop a comprehensive dance training system for students pursuing a professional career. RWB School alumni have gone on to exciting careers in all facets of the dance industry and currently form 70 per cent of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company and comprise over half of its dance faculty.
