A visual reckoning of one of the most famous choral arrangements of the twentieth century, Mauricio Wainrot’s signature work, Carmina Burana is a veritable feast for the senses. First performed by the Company in 2002, Carmina Burana is a work of unbridled passion that re-imagines traditional dances and techniques in a bold new way.
George Balanchine’s Serenade has entranced audiences and dancers since its creation in the 1930s. Set to Tchaikovsky’s musical gem “Serenade for Strings in C Major”, the first original ballet created by Balanchine in America has become iconic in the world of dance.
Philippe Larouche’s For Bye and About takes the stage for its World Premiere this May. In this jubilant new work, the virtuosic all-male cast dances to the 3rd and 4th movements of Beethoven’s 4th Symphony, drawing on the fervor of the RWB’s identity. Here, the very essence of the organization is reflected in even the smallest moments between dancers.
“By turns capricious, romantic, lusty and often reminiscent of youthful folk dancing, it’s a cornucopia of movement and carefully staged tableaux”
