Spotlight 2017

RWB School Professional Division Presents Spotlight May 25 - 27 at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre.

2017 features a mixed repertoire including the world premiere of Reminiscence choreographed by RWB School Alumni, Jera Wolfe along with excerpts of Carmina Burana and divertissements of Raymonda.

The RWB School Professional Division comes together once a year to share its stories and successes in this exciting showcase. It is the culmination of the tireless work these young dancers put in each year. They take their experiences from every warm-up, every class, every rehearsal and showcase that passion and dedication in an eclectic 90-minute performance that highlights their unwavering commitment to the art form. Taking what for some is their first step onto the professional stage, 80 young artists from across Canada and around the world promise to give audiences of all ages and tastes something to rave about!

Graduates have gone on to perform, choreograph and teach for major dance companies such as Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Singapore Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet and other companies throughout the world.

The School is delighted to present Raymonda Divertissements, a magnificent jewel from the classical repertoire, and excerpts from Carmina Burana the fiery and energetic neo-classical ballet by Mauricio Wainrot.

We are also especially proud to present the world premier of Jera Wolfe’s Reminiscence. Jera graduated from the RWB School Professional Division Ballet Academic Program in 2010 and since then has carved out an exciting career in the Canadian dance scene. He has been the recipient of several awards, including an Indigenous Dance Residency at the Banff centre for Arts and Creativity. Reminiscence was set on our Level 1 to 7 students, all of whom truly benefited from the experience of learning from Jera.
