Title: Full Time RD Jazz Faculty
Location: RWB School, Winnipeg MB
Reporting Structure: R.D. Principal
Status: Regular Full-Time with benefits
Salary: Negotiable

Summary Statement:

The Full Time RD Jazz Faculty is accountable to the Principal of the Recreational Division of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. This position is responsible for overseeing programming and aiding in the development of curriculum. This position will maintain regular communication with the Jazz faculty. The Full Time RD Jazz Faculty will work towards ensuring students are receiving the best opportunities to develop their talents within the parameters of the RWB School.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure artistic standards for all Recreational Division Jazz classes and programs
  • Teach 18 – 25 hours per week during the Regular and Summer Sessions
  • Choreograph for the Manitoba Provincial Dance Festival
  • Choreograph for the year end recitals
  • Attend workshops/conventions to stay abreast of changes in the field
  • Attend RWB Company and School performances and rehearsals as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Leadership and Project Coordination

  • Oversee the teaching and content of Jazz classes on a regular basis
  • Act as the liaison between the RD Principal and the Jazz faculty
  • Arrange pedagogical meetings
  • Maintain, oversee and update the jazz curriculum as necessary
  • Participate in the interview and audition process as required
  • Act as supervisor in the absence of the Principal or Vice-Principal as required
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Participate in the Registration Process of students
  • Coordinate select RD performances and events
  • Coordinate the Teaching Assistant Program
  • Attend all meetings as required
  • Prepare student reports as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Communication and Relationships

  • Maintain open and honest communication with the Principal, Vice-Principal of the Recreational Division, faculty, parents and students
  • Maintain open and honest communication with parents and the public on behalf of the RD in the absence of the RD Principal and in accordance with the RWB communication policy
  • Build and maintain positive and productive relationships with parents, students, artistic staff, administrative staff and musical staff
  • Forward any and all concerns regarding the RWB School Recreational Division directly to the Principal
  • Ensure that administrative deadlines are met
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications

  • Five years teaching experience
  • Five years choreography experience in Festivals and Competitions
  • Performance experience as asset
  • Knowledge and experience in producing dance performances
  • Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Criminal Record Check
