Amanda Solheim
Burnaby, British Columbia
Second Soloist
Amanda Solheim was promoted to Second Soloist in 2024. She joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company as an Apprentice in 2019, after training in the RWB School’s Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant program and was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2020.
She has danced the Black Swan Pas de Deux in the RWB School’s On the Edge in 2019, and Tall Swans in Swan Lake in 2021. Black Swan (Odile) is one of her favourite roles to both watch and perform. Amanda remembers her first few Company rehearsals as an Aspirant being “intimidating”, dancing with Company members she looked up to, and is now enjoying dancing alongside them every day!
Originally from Surrey, British Columbia, Amanda began dancing at the age of four and has trained at Pacific Dance Arts and in the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Anna McCowan-Johnson Aspirant Program with Stéphane Léonard and Caroline Gruber among other esteemed faculty members. In her second year as an Aspirant, Amanda received an Aspirant Bursary.
Her heroes are her parents, as she says they’ve helped her get where she is today, and back in her hometown, Vancouver, she’s got a “crazy, cuddly lab who eats everything in sight” named Milo.
Amanda would love to get the opportunity to perform Alice in Wonderland by Septime Webre. It was originally in the RWB’s repertoire for the 2020/2021 season, however, they never got the chance to perform it and she’s crossing her fingers that the company will get to perform it again soon.
