Soloist
Born in Chenzhou, Hunan, China, Chenxin Liu trained at the Beijing Dance Academy before joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s Aspirant Program. She joined the RWB Company as an Apprentice in 2012, promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2013, Second Soloist in 2017, and Soloist in 2018.
Since joining the RWB Company, Liu has danced the roles of Clara (Nutcracker), Odette/Odile (Swan Lake), Aurora (The Sleeping Beauty), Waltz Couple (Balanchine’s Serenade), Lead Couple in Mauricio Wainrot’s Carmina Burana, Norbert Vesak’s Belong, Juliet’ friends in Romeo & Juliet, William Forsythe’s The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, Rabbit in James Kudelka’s Vespers, Pas de Six (Giselle), Star Children (Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation), Spring Lead (James Kudelka’s The Four Seasons). She has also performed in Mark Godden’s Miroirs and Dracula, Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story, Lila York’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Celts, as well as Twyla Tharp’s The Princess & The Goblin, Jorden Morris ’The Doorway: Scenes from Leonard Cohen, The Faerie Queen - A Ballet Based On A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Peter Quanz’s In Tandem, Luminous and Untitled.
Additionally, in 2010, Liu performed the Act 3 pas de deux from Don Quixote at the Monaco Dance Forum and Prix de Lausanne. In 2011, Liu attended the Banff summer arts festival and danced lead couple in Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante.
