During her first season as teacher with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in 2016, Karyn Maertens was thrilled to recognize the immense amount of hard work the students and teachers contribute each year during recital season to bring dance alive onstage. It is this proud and joyous attitude that marks Ms. Maertens as a teacher who consistently encourages her students to reach higher, and explore what they are truly capable of as dancers.
A former student of the RWB School and graduate of the Professional Division Teacher Training Program, Ms. Maertens received numerous awards for performance and choreography. She has also taught at Marquis Dance Academy, Calgary West Dance Academy, Premiere Dance Academy and Soul Connexion in the styles of ballet, pre-ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and creative movement. Through the RWB School, she has taught in the Satellite program as well as the Sharing Dance Program.
