Originally from Oakville, Ontario, Katie Bonnell started dancing with Virginia Fleming and Sarah Baeumler before beginning her training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division in 2008. She joined the Aspirant Program in 2011 was accepted into the RWB Company as an Apprentice in 2013. She was most recently promoted into the Corps de Ballet in 2015.

Bonnell has performed several lead and featured roles including Annie (Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation), Lucy (Dracula), Dark Angel (Serenade), Sugar Plum Fairy and the Arabian pas de deux (Nutcracker), Stepsister (A Cinderella Story), Tall Swans (Swan Lake). She has also performed various roles in Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo & Juliet, Moulin Rouge® - The Ballet, The Four Seasons, and Peter Quanz’s Luminous.

Before joining the company, Bonnell had the opportunity to perform the role of Medora in the Professional Division’s production of Les Corsaires. She has also performed George Balanchine’s Scotch Symphony, Hula from William Forsythe’s The Second Detail, as well as the grand pas de deux from Paquita for Ballet in the Park.

Bonnell has been part of three World Premiers with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet: Lyla York’s The Handmaid’s Tale in 2013 and Mark Godden’s Going Home Star - Truth and Reconciliation, and James Kudelka’s Vespers.
