PD Artistic Faculty
Achieving success as an artist is all about being well-rounded, and no one knows this better than Ms. Montgomery-Whicher, who joined Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 2017 to teach visual art to students of the Professional Division. She brings over three decades of experience teaching children, teens and adults in gallery, community, and university settings in Canada and England. She has taught programs at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the National Gallery of Canada, the University of London, and “Kettle’s Yard”, a museum of contemporary and 20th century art at the University of Cambridge. In addition to a Bachelor of Fine Arts, she holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in art education.
Ms. Montgomery-Whicher has recently signed a contract with Routledge for a book about drawing, in a series entitled “Phenomenology of Practice”. Her drawings focus on the ephemeral and things taken for granted and experiences of everyday life. She exhibits her art regularly with the MAWA Artist Mothers Group and is a member of the executive committee for the Manitoba Association for Art Education.
