Sophie Milord was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and started dancing at the young age of 3. Her training focus was mostly in ballet, modern and contemporary but has also trained in jazz, lyrical and musical theatre.

Ms. Milord has participated in many summer intensives including at Hubbard Street Dance, Northwest Dance Project, and Joffrey Ballet. Taking part in several professional dance projects such as “Up close and disDancing” and “RECONNECT” with Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers choreographed by Jolene Bailie has been a highlight of her performance career.

Ms. Milord graduated in 2021 from the School of Contemporary Dancers professional program and was awarded the Bruce Mitchell scholarship. She joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School faculty in 2021 and teaches modern. Ms. Milord also teaches at the School of Contemporary Dancers and is the Director and teacher with the Lord Roberts Community Dance Program.

Inspired by former ballet teacher Jocelyn Wozencroft who trained at the RWB School before beginning her teaching career, Ms. Milord credits Ms. Wozencroft’s dedication and passion for dance as one of the reasons she returned to Winnipeg to pursue her own teaching career. A full circle moment!
