Bio

Jessica Jamieson was raised in Winnipeg, where she began her dance training at age six. Starting with tap, she soon expanded her repertoire to include ballet and eventually jazz, lyrical, musical theatre and contemporary. She trained with many studios in Winnipeg, including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Recreational Division, throughout her formative dance years.

Jessica holds a BA Honours from the University of Winnipeg with a specialization in Dance through the Department of Theatre and Film in conjunction with the School of Contemporary Dancers. In addition to the Major in Dance, Jessica completed her degree in Kinesiology and Developmental Studies to continue her training in movement and child development to support her teaching career. She is an ADAPT (Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers) certified teacher of jazz and tap and studied in the Professional Training Program of Decidedly Jazz Danceworks in Calgary.

Having the opportunity to learn from Vicki Adams Willis, co-founder of Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, while training in Calgary was a hugely inspiring experience for Jessica. The Professional Training Program team, including PTP director Jamie Freeman-Cormack and Dance School Principal Joanne Baker, were instrumental in growing and supporting Jessica’s love of movement and specifically jazz dance.

Ms. Jessica has over 20 years experience teaching dance in a variety of genres including jazz, ballet, pointe, modern/contemporary, lyrical, tap, and musical theatre. She currently teaches in the RWB School Recreational Division, while also working as School Office Manager with the RWB. Ms. Jessica is passionate about sharing her love of dance and movement with her students and looks forward to being back in the studio!
