Bio
Jackie Oakley joined the Royal Winnipeg Ballet as a Company Artist in 2026.
Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Jackie trained at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Boston Ballet, and The Royal Danish Ballet, with additional summer study at the School of American Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet.
She joined The National Ballet of Canada as an Apprentice in 2009 and was promoted to the Corps de Ballet in 2010. Over the next 13 years, she performed an extensive range of roles across the company’s diverse repertoire. In 2017, she received the Patron Award of Merit in recognition of her excellence and growth within the Corps de Ballet. In 2025, Jackie joined Houston Ballet, where she continued to expand her repertoire before joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in 2026.
Throughout her career, Jackie has worked with many of today’s leading choreographers, including Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, John Neumeier, Crystal Pite, Wayne McGregor, James Kudelka, Stanton Welch, Ben Stevenson, Will Tuckett, Guillaume Côté, Julia Adam, Robert Binet, Christopher Stowell, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, and David Allan. Her repertoire also includes works by George Balanchine, Sir Frederick Ashton, John Cranko, Sir Peter Wright, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Rudolf Nureyev, Jerome Robbins, and August Bournonville.
Her featured roles include the Sweet Fairy in Rudolf Nureyev’s and Christopher Stowell’s The Sleeping Beauty, Tall Swans in James Kudelka’s Swan Lake, Tall Woman in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Elite Syncopations, Helene Vetsera in Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling, the White Cat in Ben Stevenson’s and Christopher Stowell’s The Sleeping Beauty, and the Marigold Nanny in Stanton Welch’s world premiere of Raymonda.
Jackie has performed on major stages around the world, including in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris, Tokyo, Hamburg, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Houston, Toronto, and Panama City. She has also performed with Canada’s Ballet Jörgen, Skylar Campbell Dance Collective, Julia Adam Dance, Intuitv Artship, and Ballet Orange County.
